Young White-Tailed Deer

We have seen a couple of young bucks in our area this year. They do not seem too shy so I’ve been able to get some photos of them. These were probably born last year. They are starting to get antlers.

They eat leafy material from trees, and grasses and herbs. They do like my hostas, so I have to watch that they leave them alone.

A female deer (doe) can breed when it is only 6-7 months of age, and will give birth in late spring.

They are named because the underside of their tail is white. Whey they are startled, or run, their tale goes up like a flag. This is a warning signal to other deer that there is a danger.

I do enjoy the area we live in. We get to see a lot of wildlife here and we can enjoy God’s creation in the animals we see.
